Sclerotherapy for leg thread veins
Change title to Thread vein Sclerotherapy
Spider veins or telangiectasis as they are medically knowns are small dilated blood vessels that create threadlike red lines or patterns on the skin.
These patterns, form gradually and often appear in clusters. They’re sometimes known as “spider veins” because of their fine and weblike appearance appearance. They can be seen on the face or the legs and generally are not harmful or painful.
On the legs if they are significant they maybe a sign of underlying vascular disease and Lynn will advise you if she believes you require further medical intervention.
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a small amount of a salt like solution directly into the vein. This solution causes the vein to scar, closing off the vessel forcing blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is reabsorbed into local tissue and eventually fades.
The treated veins tend to fade within a few weeks, although occasionally it may take a month or more to see the full results.
Several treatments are often necessary
